Redirect 301 and internal server error (500)

I had a site with a CMS provided by the hosting provider.

I have now changed for prestashop.

 

With my old CMS, I had URL's such as http://www.mysite.com/category, and now in prestashop, URL's are such as : http://www.mysite.com/1-category si I need to set up 301 redirects.

 

I tried with :

 

Redirect 301 /category http://www.mysitet.fr/8-category

 

and

 

RedirectPermanent /category http://www.mysitet.fr/8-category

 

But everywhere I can paste it in the .htaccess file, an error 500 Internal Server Error happen.

 

Could you please help me to find the good way to set up my redirects?
