Installation Requirements - problems installing

So, I'm guessing that the installation only comes bundled with the French language or something? I beat my head against the wall trying to install English/US language initially and finally gave up and installed French. Install went through without a hitch at all. When I tried to change the language from the back end, only THEN did it complain that it couldn't reach prestashop.com. I'm on a host that rightfully blocks outbound traffic so that applications that are a little less than secure aren't able to saturate the bandwidth. I enabled outbound to prestashop.com and was able to install English.

 

Can you devs PLEASE trap these ridiculous errors or perhaps let us know that you're downloading translations during installation so that we can have a clue as to what's going on? There aare no error logs that would have caught this.
