Hi PrestaShop Community,

The Google Cloud Platform now has both MySQL and PHP (limited beta) support. Has anyone tried to set up PrestaShop there?

This would be interesting for people like me that don't want to maintain a Linux server, and don't want to pay for a managed server. On top of that, you can get synchronous or asynchronous replication of your MySQL data, and the scaling that comes with the Google App Engine.

And the prices look reasonable (but then again, everything's getting cheap ;->).

I'm assuming the performance would be reasonable, but that's a big assumption.

Thanks,

Right now it's not possible because:

- Google apps has a constraint on the number of files, in order to force the file storage into buckets. A normal prestashop installation surpass the number easily --> not possible to deploy even for testing purposes, unless it's a blank prestashop.

- There's no plugin for prestashop to enable the read/write from buckets.

I can't see a plugin or update coming soon to support buckets, since all the file logic is distributed in several parts of the code (not really good design I may say).

If prestashop doesn't catch up with the cloud deployments, it will be losing customers faster than they think.

I've suggested CloudWays to have Google Cloud Platform as an alternative for their cloud hosting services. In the feedback section, they actually replied that the integration will be done by feb 4th.

As soon as it's ready, I'll definitely move my shop to this hosting option.

Hi Moy, have you moved your PrestaShop to the App Engine?
