Help with multistore

Recommended Posts

I need help with setting up multistore on two different domains.

www.domain.com

www.anotherdomain.com

Can someone please write a step-by-step guide, on how I can point www.anotherdomain.com to my prestashopinstallation on www.domain.com?

I understand this can not be done via a standard redirect.

Please don't just answer something like "Use parked domain in cpanel".

I really need a nice walkthrough on doing this - it is in fact no where on the net - I really have been searching for it. Not even in the PS documentation <_<

cpanel = park to main domain

plesk = alias to main domain

other (shared hosting, godaddy for example) point url to main installation folder

Thank you, however - let me quote myself:

Please don't just answer something like "Use parked domain in cpanel".

Is it THAT hard, that it's really not possible to explain to people like me, that have never worked a lot with things like these?

Please understand I'm not trying to have people to the job for me, I'm trying to learn myself - but I need help. That is why I post in the forum. Isn't this what forums are for?

there is a user guide....

sorry to have not answered your question to your satisfaction.

you said "I understand this can not be done via a standard redirect."

them you go on to say don't tell me how to do it...in a certain way....which really makes no sense

neither of which makes a lot of sense.

Hey, angry guy.

Everytime you answer to posts, and people tell you that was not what they was looking for, you are always harsh in your replies.

Why can't you just be nice?

You are just lying when you're saying my question doens't make a lot of sense. I think it's pretty straight forward what I'm asking for.

Go somewhere else to pick a fight, not on a professional forum where people actually try to learn things to run their businesses.

What do you expect by walkthrough or step-by-step guide? Shall we make a screencast? Do you have cpanel? Read the documentation and ask what you do not understand in this 2 and a half steps.

To add a parked domain:

  1. Enter the domain that you wish to park in the available text field.
  2. Click Add Domain

To open the parked domain’s home directory with the File Manager:

  • Click the link under Document Root that corresponds to the parked domain that you would like to view in the File Manager.

From http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/AllDocumentation/CpanelDocs/ParkedDomains

Trip, thank you!

I've read the documentation on PS, which for me is the logical place to go - when I have questions regarding doing things with and in prestashop. Unfortunately I find PS documentation to be poor on some areas.

Sorry that I wasn't more clear on what I needed. I do have cPanel.

- I thought my sentence about cPanel in the first post was making it clear. I see now that it did not tell if I had cPanel or something else to work from. Sorry about that.

I couldn't get this to work because my primary domain with my host is in fact the domain I needed to park. And since my primary domain was already set up in the httpd.conf, I got an error when trying to park it.

Therefore I used a different domain to test - which worked. Finally.
