Duplicate products for each shop (multistore)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

when using multistore is it normal that prestashop has to crate a copy of the product for each shop you want that product to be shown?

Also, you can share/show the same Categories on different shops but not the products of other stores they contain. This is sometime confusing.

Why can't the products be "unique" and allowed to be used freely on each shop?

I appreciate if someone can enlighten me on this,

thanks in advance.

"You cant redo this action if you install the multistore with this option"

Sorry but to which option you are referring to?

I see this options:

Share customer

Share quantities

Share orders

But I can't find a share products or something similar...

I hear many people claim that PS 1.5.6.1 Multi Store will share also the products, but unfortunately it doesn't in our stores. In the main store 'ledaanbieder.nl' we've got 2300 products, but if we go to another store there are none. While adding a new store you can share all other things like orders, but with products it seems that 'sharing' is just making a copy of the catalog.

So, if we go to the main shop that has 'shared' the catalog with the secondary shop (in the same group) and add a new product... It won't appear in the secondary. What is going wrong here? How can I really share the main catalog with ALL multistores inclusive all changes I make afterwards?

you need to share products between stores. you select this option when enable multistore?

Where I can find this option?

From Tutorial:

Sharing products and categories

When you create a new store within a group, you can choose to have all or some of the categories in the new store be exact duplicates of the categories in any other store on your installation of PrestaShop.

When creating a category, either for a specific store or for all the stores in the PrestaShop installation, PrestaShop registers the category for all the stores – it is simply hidden from any store where it has not been set.

By associating the new stores with a given category, any change in this category will impact all the stores which are associated with it, even if the stores are from different store groups. You can therefore change the category's content once and for all from one place, including its products.

But if seller from secondary shop add category or products in main story I didn't see that.

But when I instal shop group I set Share customers, Share available quantities to sell and Share orders. Once enabled.

Maybe I miss something?
