preerp10
In the past few days somebody has called here with a purposely spoofed unidentifying phone number who goes by the name of "Paul". He likes to say "The call is being recorded for security purposes" He knows one of us by name and asks for them and then goes on to say that he knows the shopping cart system on our website is prestashop and "accepting paypal with prestashop is a snap". The company doesn't even have a paypal account so I know right off the bat, he's full of s**t. Nowhere on the site does it say "prestashop" and the word "Prestshop" was even deleted from the email templates. (sorry) So I'm wondering where he got the name and number from and also if anyone else is getting these calls. He has called at least 3 times. Doesn't want to take no for an answer. Paypal is a slimy company but not even paypal would do this. Obviously a scammer. We'll know soon what number he acutally dialed from with the ANI/ALI records. Gotta love it when a scammer is stupid enough to call a toll free number.
shacker
its strange. i never hear about it. have you sened a email to paypal support?
benjamin utterback
I would say that it is a scammer. Nothing like that is coming from Prestashop's side and I highly doubt that it is coming from PayPal. I also would guess that this is a pretty isolated incident.
vekia
I think exactly the same as Benjamin, this is ordinary scam, you can read about it on the internet. Paypal is the most popular payment method, so many scammers use it to grab money
preerp10
Yeah I figured it was a scammer. I just wondered if anyone else had received any calls to see if maybe there was a common link. I would have considered it an ordinary scam too if it weren't for the guy asking by name and mentioning prestashop and saying "Your shopping cart system is prestashop and enabling paypal in prestashop is a snap". And no prestashop legend, I didn't contact paypal. We don't use paypal or even have a paypal account. Aside from personal accounts which are in no way used for anything tied into work.
