Download Folder ?

I am trying something new, I have created a new CMS block named download and have created a Manuals download page.

All works fine with the exception of the download link, when clicking on the down link I receive this message.

 

403 Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /shop3/download/manual v8_ en.pdf on this server.

 

This is a test site located in a sub directory of my main site which is a landing site with information.

In the future I plan on removing this site and having everything on the online shop rather then having an info site with a shop online link.

I uploaded al the manuals that are on the info site to the download folder in my Prestashop install and pointed the link to it and receive the message above.

If I change the link to point to the link folder in the main site you can access the pdf either by clicking on it or by right clicking and choosing save.

 

If I use this link that points to the folder outside of the Prestashop folders the download works.

I know this is a .htaccess issue just not sure how to fix or if I am better off having the folder with the downloadable manuals in the outside folder.

Well in my opinion here are two possibilities:

1. what about permissions (chmod) for this directory and files there?
   
2. If this is htaccess issue, try to create new .htaccess file in /downloads/ directory with example content:
   

 

Options +Indexes

 

this file should override main htaccess file (if it is possible on your server)

Thanks vekia, turns out is was an .htaccess issue but no custom one was necassary, all I needed to do was edit the file that is already inside the downloads folder. DUH

This was in the file

 

Order deny,allow

Deny from all

uh du do de dum. lol

 

I also had to change the route and remove the content/ and change the - to _ between the {id} and {rewrite} also had to change the _ in manufacturers and suppliers. (add extras _ to both) otherwise the downloads link would bring up the manufacturer or suppliers page.

je voudrais savoir à quoi sert le dossier "download" de prestashop, le mien comporte 370 fichiers , puis-je ou dois-je les effacer ?

N'ayant toujours pas de reponses , j'en suis très deçu , je signale tt de même que je connais pas mal prestashop et que je peux aider beaucoup de debutants pour installer , ajouter des modules , gerer le port etc...gratuitement bien sur .  l'idéal serait de pouvoir communiquer directement entre nous par téléphone également, en plus du forum. voici le mien 06 13 18 44 93. merci
