Dallerdkj
I have a simple question, hope someone can point me in the right direction Does these sites, create duplicate content with Google? Multishop / Multistore, with exact same products and description, but different domains, different themes, etc. -> www.computerstore.com/computers/dell-computer-780.html www.gadgetshop.com/computers/dell-computer-780.html www.electronicstore.com/computers/dell-computer-780.html These domains are only examples. benjamin utterback
Hello Danielkjdaller, my thoughts is that if it is located at two different domains, it should not matter. There are many products that have recycled descriptions. You may want to look to change the Friendly URL of the products to make it unique. Dallerdkj
Hello Benjamin. Thanks for your reply. I believe there isnt many examples out there with live multishops? I have definitely not found a clear answer to this yet. But it makes sense, i could try and make my URL's more unique, by defining the Friendly URL for the individual multi store, under SEO & URL in BO right? Anyways, i will report back if i get some sort of penalty out of it.

Trip
I think it depends on the circumstances. If you are copying the content over 3 or 4 domains it might be ok. If you use 100 keyword domains on one server it might be considered as spam. No one except google staff might know that. My observations atm. are that keyword domains still rank better than the value of the content they sometimes provide which is a little unfair for people that put a lot of efford on optimizing their pages. On the other hand when you build your business on such uncertain terrain the next google algo update or any mistake might make all your effords and money you invested useless. I would concentrate on strengthen your brand/shop name and that customers remember your website and your service and therefore recommend you instead of building hundreds of satellite shops/sites to get traffic to them by any means. Small and big business have names that are unique and easy to remember. What is more boring than a website that is called "electronicstore"? Would google be that succesfull when they used the name www.searchengine.com? So anyway, if you are competing with your product portfolio against amazon the only chance might be to get some keyword domains or optimize for longtail search terms but that way it is hard to strenghten your brand / shop name. I recommend reading the following articles. http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.de/2008/09/demystifying-duplicate-content-penalty.html http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66359 and the case in your #4'th post is completely different, For a small faq read https://sites.google.com/site/webmasterhelpforum/en/faq-internationalisation#q1 or more in depth http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=182192&ctx=cb&src=cb&cbid=1c3zpx4ktyydl&cbrank=1 There are more articles direct from the horses mouth which are pretty clear imo. Best regards, trip

That is true, only Google knows exactly how they weigh certain SEO aspects and what their methodology is.
