redtogo
I have a number of ebooks on my Prestashop but there appears to be no way that a customer after purchasing the ebook can download the purchase for their use. The normal way is after the sale has been confirmed is to automatically send the customer an email to their registered email address containing a link which the customer clicks on to download the virtual product. Could this problem be fixed as soon as possible as at present none of my customers can download any ebooks.
bellini13
your customers can download their products by going to their My Account page, clicking on the order history link, opening the order, and clicking the link. so there is a way. now, you could perform a search and would have likely stumbled on this bug report http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCFV-8705
redtogo
Your idea is too clumsy to work properly. Customers expect an instant download. I did a pretty thorough search on the internet this morning looking for a module that would allow automatic downloads once the purchase was completed which I found using PayPal which would suit my needs completely. However it was a Justcart .module. If Justcart can make one what is stopping Prestashop from doing the same as all the hard work has already been done by PayPal. The e-book market must be the fastest growing market on the Internet and there must be a growing demand for ecommerce sites which can offer instant automatic downloads of ebooks.
bellini13
Your idea is too clumsy to work properly. Customers expect an instant download. Not my idea, I was simply explaining how the system works. My point was, there is a way for the customer to download. As for automatic download feature, open a separate topic requesting that the functionality be created, or hire a professional to create it for you. bellini13
you do realize I posted a link to the bug report that addresses the issue, right?
redtogo
I did look at it the first time but not very carefully. I had a second look now made the changes as suggested and now the problem appears fixed. I would like to suggest that fix be made permanent by making an minor update to Prestashop so that other users especially new users of Prestashop who want to sell virtual goods such as e-books will not run into this problem and be turned off using Prestashop. bellini13
that is how bug reports work, a user reports an issue, Prestashop fixes the issue, and the fix is made available in the next release of the software. karthiiiiiiiiiik
hi redtogo, i am getting 404 error make one ebook as available for free price.. so that i can check it up?
redtogo
when are you getting a 404 error as I have checked everything carefully and could find no problems. If your web browser showed www.keirassoc.com/AU/ then you will need to clear the history of your browser as this was an error during testing and you must be using your cache. bellini13
you said you disabled the ebooks, if that means you have disabled the product, then you need to configure what happens when someone tries to view that product page. in PS v1.5.4, this is an option directly under the disable radio button
karthiiiiiiiiiik
hi redtogo, it shows page not available....i checked in firefox,chrome...
redtogo
The reason for the 404 error is that Petrashop changed the web address from www.keirassoc.com to www.keirassoc.com to www.keirassoc.com/AU/. This problem appeared when I was setting up Pretashop and then dissappeared again so I didn't worry about it. This problem had me baffled because I had made no changes this time to have caused somethinglike this to happen and I checked all my urls and could not find anything wrong in the setup. I had changed the flag in Prestashop itself to the Australian flag. When I changed the flag to the US or the British flag there was no 404 error so it looks like there is bug in Pestrashop if you add a flag other than the US or British and use that flag. I have changed the flag back to the US flag so that there will be no 404 error. I have left the Australian flag on so that you can test the setup by changing the flag from US to Australian flag to see if you get the 404 error. The problem may be limited just to the Australian flag or maybe to other countries so I suggest you test this. I would greatly appreciate any feedback on this problem. redtogo
If you are still getting a 404 error clear your cache by emptying the the history. This should fix the problem because everything is working fine now.

redtogo
After a lot of hassle I think I have turned off Smarty. It is more complicated than neccsary and a simple on/off switch would be very helpful. However I am still having 404 page not found errors when I check my stats although everything works fine for me. I did add a redirect at my internet provider with keirassoc.com/AU/ redirected to keirassoc.com/ but that appears to only solved part of the problem. I looked at the possiblty of changing the 404 page and asking people to clear their history as I think the problem is that people are using the old cached web page instead of a new one but I found that was not possible. I still think that this /AU/ problem is a bug in Prestrashop?
GSherwin
Is this fix something that can be incorporated now. I too thought a link went to the customer.
