Controllers not able to load checkout, returns error 500

Hi, I have struggled with random errors on version 1.5.4.1 and I had to reinstall version 1.5.3.1 which was stable on a test site with no errors, now I cant load the checkout page using the default them when products are added to the cart and my custom theme doesnt load. Is there anyone that can help to diagnose and help fix the problem?

Please, check the server logs and enable the dev mode to figure out what was done in the wrong way during the update.

Hi, the site is hosted by an ISP, how do I enable the dev mode and access the server logs?

and now the front office doesnt load either, returning error 500 also.
