RoPey
Hi there I'm currently populating the catalog for a new shop and had been checking and viewing the added products and all was fine at the end of last week. Now, I've gone back in today to add more and all the descriptions for the products I've added are not showing up. They are definately there in the Back Office, but looking at the shop front or the preview there is nothing. The price, title, reference and image display fine. Example here http://www.zoeseddon.co.uk/p_s/en/original-paintings/30-mad-stocks-original.html. I've also added a CMS page and the text for that is not appearing either. I'm not aware of having disabled anything at all. Please can someone help me to understand what may have gone wrong. I'm quite new to Prestashop. Thanks
RoPey
Even more curious is that I've just tested this in Internet Explorer and Opera and the descriptions display there - as does the text in the CMS page About Zoe. However, in Firefox and Chrome, the descriptions are entirely absent.
calibosuk
I just did a fresh install of Prestashop for our company today and (using chrome) noticed this as well. There doesn't seem to be any solution as of yet, well not that I can find. Guess We'll just have to use IE for now................ RoPey
Well it's comforting to know it's not just me, but how do you tell your customers that! The really odd thing is that I was working in Firefox on Friday and they were visible then. The front page slider isn't displaying in these two browsers either, but are fine in IE and Opera. I can't understand what might have changed. I'm not aware that Firefox has been upgraded over the weekend, and Chrome hasn't as far as I know. There certainly hasn't been an upgrade to Prestashop, so I just don't understand what can be happening. Looking in the developers tools or view source in IE, the source has the description in a div with the id more_info_block and looking in Firefox there is nothing there at all, the block is missing entirely. calibosuk
For me, as the website was a fresh install yesterday, I might just upload all the files/folders except the Admin and Install. Maybe the FTP missed a few in the upload for some reason. Edit 1: Thinking about it... It might have something to do with the permissions of the folders etc... Edit 2: I just did a fresh install, followed word for work the PrestaShop install guide, and the default products seem to have the description now... RoPey
If the descriptions never showed then I could understand that maybe something had not installed properly, but in Opera I can see them. Somebody else checked on a different computer last night and could see them in Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer. Where I was seeing them in IE yesterday - now I cannot. Looking at the source code, the description and features block is there - but it's empty.

djaenicke
I have this problem too and still no solution or word or anything from the developers :S
djaenicke
Could the problem be how prestashop interacts with different browsers? As it shows under different circumstances? Is there a file that outlines how prestashop deals with different browsers?
RoPey
i'm sorry if the following is a little vague, but I got through these problems, but am unsure exactly what made the real difference. I believe it may have something to do with caching and/or localisation. I cleared the cache regularly in Chrome, but in the end I moved to developing this mainly using Firefox for testing as clearing the cache in Chrome seemed to have little effect. Also, check the cache settings within the Prestashop preferences and make sure they're suitable for development and then changed once the shop is sent live. A quick Google will provide you with a wealth of tutorials on how to do this. One other thing, and I'm unsure exactly how it worked, but my responsive slider kept disappearing in Firefox and Chrome. My localisation was set to UK English (gb) everywhere required, but I discovered that by removing the US English (en) and then readding (because it seemed to cause problems actually leaving it removed) it, this fixed my slider in all browsers. Beware if you do this though, the current gb language pack of Prestashop have French menu items in the back office. Advice on how to deal with this here http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/240016-solved-154-back-office-tabs-in-french/ Sorry that isn't more clear, but have hope, my shop is up and running and appearing in all browsers! Uniq
Hi, Need some help. I lost all my product descriptions. The only thing I did was edit the install setting in my cpanel to rename the url. It didn't work so I re-edited the url back to the original url. Since then, no descriptions. Can this even be related if everything else is intact? Uniq
Also I can see the complete description when I go to my products tab. Just does not show on the webpage. Also I did copy paste my descriptions from my other page. Could this have anything to do with it?
