alwaysperplexed
Hi there I have PS 1.4.8.3 and I allow back orders for products that have no stock available. This is the first time it has happened but a customer has just ordered something that was not in stock and so their order is showing as back order and they received a message saying: "Unfortunately, one or more items on your order are currently out of stock. This may cause a slight delay in delivery. Please accept our apologies and rest assured that we are working hard to rectify this." That's OK I believe. The product is showing as stock -1 I have just received new stock of this product so I want to put it back into stock to fulfil this backorder. So I went into the product and increased the stock to 1. My problem is how do I reconcile this new stock with the back order? Isn't there a procedure to run against the stock so that it will match up with the outstanding backorder? At the moment the customers order is still saying "on back order" and the stock is still saying "1 in stock" so in theory someone could come along and purchase this item which is in stock and the back order will never get fulfilled. Is there some procedure I am missing or another way I should be doing this? Thanks for any help
Valérie Assetskaya
Hi, You need to increase the stock including purchased items. I.e. stock is -3, so 3 items were purchased and there are 3 backorders. But you have 2 items, so you need to increase it by two . Best regards. alwaysperplexed
hi and thanks for your reply, appreciate it. I understand the math of increasing the stock but I guess what I was looking for was a way to assign the stock to the outstanding backorder but I guess that doesn't happen. I'm used to using the stock system at work so that when new stock comes in, the stock movement review is run, and any outstanding back orders are matched against the new stock and are invoiced. I was expecting/hoping it might work like that otherwise the back order could sit there forever and the stock could be sold to someone else, right?
