AmericasGotWood
Basically I am constantly adding new products and catagory's to my prestashop website using a csv import and it can be buggy at times. Normally I figure out a way to fix everything but I have a new problem and I have tried everything I know to try and it doesn't seem to help. Here is the problem. Somehow a catagory was created with an id of 125351 when I am only at 41 or in that area. But this new catagory does not show up anywhere in the adminstration pannel. It does show up on the website under the menu which is not good because it throws everything off and covers up stuff. When you click it you get a message that says: There is 1 error : Category does not exist So I imported a catagory called the same thing with the id 125351 and then it was active and I could add products to it. If I moved it to another catagory to become its parent it will move but the original 125351 still stays in the home catagory. If i delete it it will disapear from where I have moved it but the original still stays right where it is. The website is www.americasgotwood.com if anyone wants to look for themself. All I am trying to accomplish is removing the catagory. I have also looked for it inside the database and the catagory does not exsisit in the database anywhere. Just at a lose for what the hell I can do. Thanks for any and all help in advance. benjamin utterback
Hello americasgotwood, which category are you trying to delete? Have you seen all the configuration options for TM categories module?
AmericasGotWood
The one that says Max Windsor Hardwood. Here is the options it gives me in the configuration: Maximum depth Set the maximum depth of sublevels displayed in this block (0 = infinite) Dynamic Activate dynamic (animated) mode for sublevels Footer columns number Set the number of footer columns I reset the module and it moved in on the site I am sure I will be able to figure that out but the max windsor hardwood is still there. But still nowhere to be found on the admin side to delete or even configure.
benjamin utterback
Hi, it seems that all the categories are gone. Are you uninstalling the module?
AmericasGotWood
Okay so now that module is pretty much not working at all. I have tried to disable it & uninstall it and it just stays there. I can delete it and it does go away. But as soon as I put the files back in the modules directory it shows back up with the hooks where it is suppose to be and the module still doesn't work. I have been using prestashop for almost two years now and I would say I am not a beginner but not a novice ether. I can figure things out pretty good it just seems like things are getting jammed up somewhere.
benjamin utterback
The module is in the back office installed and enabled and it's not showing up at all?
AmericasGotWood
That is correct. Not showing up at all. And it won't let me uninstall or disable. I can delete. Edited April 18, 2013 by AmericasGotWood (see edit history)
AmericasGotWood
Okay i have the menu back up and running. It is still in the wrong place and everytime I try to fix the position it says the module cannot be loaded. I have even revised the module with a new name and installed it and the menu still shows up in the same place and has the same non working characteristics as the original module. So the problem may be something is jamming the module or the category part of the website. So I am still with a extra category on my menu and the menu in the wrong position. I am thankful for any help.

AmericasGotWood
I agree very strange. So am I at a point of no return or is there light at the end of the tunnel. When looking through the database everything seems fine. I am no database guy but Nothing seems out of place or inconsistant.
AmericasGotWood
Okay so after doing a bit of research I have solved this issue. anves this could be your solution as well. I will try and go step by step what i did to fix the situation. After thinking about it in my head the only thing that made any sense was the fact that something was clogging my system and stopping me from being able to change certain things or to change things that shouldn't even be there. So the only thing that made sense to me was it has to be in the cache. So i did some research and found these two topics. http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/36503-clearing-cache-howto/ http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/120563-solved-can-i-clear-the-cachefs-folder-it-has-grown-to-7-gig-and-rising-all-the-time/ Now I am not the most patient person nor did I want to take the time to get my hosting company involved. So I did go into the preferences and then performance and as the other form says turned on force compile and turned off but of the catching options. I would also note that I am using a prestashop 1.4.x version and below the force compile and first cache option the options in the section I have the boxes on top marked for every option. Not sure if this will matter in your environment or if it did in mine just the way I have it setup. At this point I used FileZilla to ftp into my site and re-uploaded my last backup of my admin folder(which may not have had any impact but i figured what the hell) then I went to tools/smarty/cache & tools/smarty/compile and deleted all the files in both folders except for the index.php files. You may have to goto tools/smarty_v2/compile & tools/smarty_v2/cache and delete everything in those directories again leaving the index.php files alone. This next step is probably the most important. I then went to cache/cachefs/ (all folders) it should have a folder for 0-9 a-z and made sure every file out of every folder was deleted. After I did this and refreshed my page everything was fixed and I am now able to start adding products and category as i have been again. So from now one what I am going to do every time I am importing products and categories is go to the preferences/performance and turn on force compile and off both caches. This was if I import something that could jam my system it won't cache it and I can delete it without any issues. I hope this info will help others because I took a day and a half to figure all this out. Benjamin you should have known this would have fixed it or at least suggested a cache release but at least now you know too. The only problem I have left now is that my shop is currently on category # 49 but if i create a category using the admin panel and not importing it then it gives it a number starting after 125351 so there is still something jammed somewhere but at least I can administer my shop again and the front end looks the way it is suppose to.
