Paypal causing cart to stop working

Dear Prestashopers,

 

I have problem with adding an item to cart when Paypal is enabled. I have been Googling for this problem for the last few days but I have not been able to find a solution.

 

When Paypal is disabled, clicking on `add to the basket` sends a post request over http and everything works smoothly but when Paypal is enabled, the post request is sent over https and the server returns no response which brings up the below text:

Impossible to add the product to the cart.
textStatus: 'error'
errorThrown: ''
responseText:

 

My Prestashop version is 1.5.1.0

 

I would highly appreciate if anyone could help me to solve the problem.
