Product Name not showing correctly in Prestashop admin cart summary

So, I used the copy command to create my multiple products, and I am not sure why, but it is creating a problem in my cart summary.

 

The Product name is coming in with the same name for the product, but the image comes in correctly and if I hover over the product name, the correct product number comes up, but somehow the Product name still comes over as the one I think I copied from.

 

Example:

 

I have 12 products - the first one I entered had the name:

 

Protection U-Neck Tshirt - Hamsa Design

 

The product image will come in correctly, but every uneck tshirt I have comes in with this product name, even if it is not the actual product name..

 

I tried to delete the original product and put it back in, it made no difference..

 

the same thing is happening with another type of shirt all come in with the correct product picture, the correct link, but the incorrect product name.

 

Any thoughts of how I can correct it, I dont feel like I can advertise the shop with the cart works like this.. I have traffic but not an order yet.. I would love to promote my site.. but it just isnt working like I would expect it to..

 

i am on 1.4.9.0 - I cannot upgrade anymore because the template I have is not compatible with the higher levels.

I looked at your site, and especially the source code of your cloned products page. What I see, is that there are more languages offered to your clients on your site, and the non US languages have the old name with them (you can try out, by changing your language to the french flag. you will see the original name come back).

 

Apparently it works like this:

When creating a NEW product, PS will copy the originally given name (US) to all other languages, if no specific name per language is given. (ie. when the name for the other languages are still blank)

Then, when you clone this product, it clones all descriptions of all languages (which sounds 'correct').

 

However, editing the default US field will then NOT copy the new name to the other languages, as they have already a name (the old one), so PS will not overwrite names that are already there.

 

So, you have to edit the name for all languages that you really want to offer to your clients (which is reasonable, as they may (should) differ per language.

 

Try to edit one product and see if that solves the problem as described as well. (Still not sure why it chooses a different language to display in your order list. Is that client using a different language/from another country?)

 

Hope this 'helps' (at least you may know where your headache comes from... ;-) )

I knew it was a default somewhere.. but I couldnt find it.. so Wow, Thank you so much..

 

Yes, it is absolutely possible it is happening in other languages, and exactly the reason I could not duplicate it on my own cart on the site..

 

Sounds like there is not easy way to fix it, but at least I know what it is..

Glad I could give you a hint. Indeed not a quick fix for this (As I said, at least your know where your headache comes from, instead of drifting without direction ;-) )

P.S. If you want the name to be the same for all languages, you might consider to quickly copy directly inside the database... Maybe faster...

Actually, You did give me a quick fix, I disabled the other languages.. and I am hoping I will never see it again..
