Manual Uprgrading 1.5.3.1 to 1.5.4.0

Hi,

 

I have manually upgraded from one version to another so may times over the years I have lost count. If I have ever encountered a problem it was typically an oversight from myself and very quickly resolved.

 

However, this time going from 1.5.3.1 to 1.5.4.0 I am really struggling. I had several attempt and just can't seem to sort it. So advice appreciated.

 

Each time running the upgrade script I immediately get the error

 

<action result="fail" error="28" />

 

This of course relates to an attempt to upgrade an already upgraded version. This is not the case.

 

The front end displays OK, I have access to admin and the version now displays 1.5.4.0

 

How can I check that the store is indeed upgraded and not just displaying a change of version number?

In answer to my own question the update did not work. Even thought the BO showed the new version number everything was far from correct.

Given so may aborted attempts it seems there is something very different with the latest update. I decided to do it locally using Wamp Server and just upload it when I'm done.

Maybe you should use an alternative way to upgrade? Intall a new version and then move your data from the current store.
