Payment Page - Set Credit Card as Default?

Recommended Posts

There always is something holding me up from opening my store officially. Now it is the payment page/modules.

On the payment page of my store a customer must click on one of four links

Pay with bank wire

Pay with Google Checkout

Pay with Paypal

Pay with Merchantware

Merchantware is the credit card processor I've decided to use, but how is a customer supposed to know to click on it to pay with a credit/debit card? This is absolutely unacceptable as it makes my site look like fraudulent. If you click on the link, you are redirected to another page to enter your CC info.

No no no.

How do I make a credit card info form on my payment page as the default? I expect most people to be paying with a credit/debit card and I want them to not click on a link to be able to.

Please, someone tell me how to add a default credit card processing form on my payment page?

Hi there,

Yes I am offering all of those as alternatives, but merchantware is the card processor, they never said anything to me about on or offsite processing. I honestly can't imagine any store owner would want a link that says "Pay by merchantware" on their payment page, and if a customer clicks on it, then they are re-directed to offsite processing.

thanks for your help.

So change the text to say Pay with Credit / Debit Card. Don't see what the issue is really if your offering different alternatives to payment how is the customer supposed to decide if you force the credit card option only on them?

I don't think its as much of a big deal as your making it out to be sorry...

Hi again,

And thanks for responding. I guess the issue is that I cannot find any way to change the text then? That would be great, yes, but how?

It really is a big deal because if you put yourself in the customer's shoes, 99% of people are usually skeptical about entering their personal information on a website they've never been to or heard of, so my first thought as a customer would be "oh great, this website is a scam, I can't even enter my cc info on the payment page, it re-directs me to a different website to do that? No thanks!"

Why do I say this? Because I worked in customer service for one of the largest online retailers in the US and that was pretty much every customers concern even though the store had an on site form.

I'll definitely try it out if I can change the text, but I am new to PS and haven't the slightest idea how to.

THanks again, I really do appreciate your help!

Dunno I worked with ecommerce for 14 years and I think building trust is something that should be done before the payment page but thats just me, and im not here to start a pissing contest ;)

The payment module, if you go into the php / tpl file you should be able to find the exact wording it uses just search the code for it and replace with what you want.

If you want the credit card bit onsite your going to need to put that in your self and also ensure that your provider allows onsite payments.
