Big issue with installer, shop broken after update, 500 Internal Server Error

Recommended Posts

Hello presta community. Yesterday, I was going to update from 1.5.2 to 1.5.4, I got a warning about some table, and I had some issues with the new update, so I did a rollback! After the rollback I just get a HTTP 500 internal server error on both the front office and backoffice.

So now my show is broken and unusable. the obvious thing to do now would of course be to restore the show with the backup i made before the update right? The problem with that is that I never downloaded a backup, I had some problems with my FTP software so I basically just copied the website and put it in a subfolder in the same directory. Now when I check this folder, there is like 3 files and 4 folders only, the prestashop installer has DELETED my backup! Well, most of it at least. Not only did it delete the backup I made, it wiped most my other websites off the server to! They were all stored in subfolders with a underline in front of the name so they would be at the top in the root directory whe I have the shop. Some of the folders are now completely empty, some just have few files left. one of my websites is left intact...

So now I'm pretty screwed over, my show is broken and I don't have a fresh backup, what do do??? I noticed right when installing that prestshop was making backups of all the files when updating, but I thought it would only make the process take a longer time, couldn't imagine that the installer would delete these files :S

500 errors has a pretty good chance to be related to your .htaccess (remove it at first)

From your web server log, you should be able to have more info about the reason of the 500.

Apparently from what you just see it seems your upgrade when wrong just after the cleanup phase.

Your backup does not exists !!! You are kidding ain't you?

Let's just upload a fresh prestashop (at version level you where having before)

Mod or regen manually your config/settings.inc.php

Voilà

Yes, seriously it was gone. Yeah upload a fresh presta version would probably work, but not restore my other websites that was deleted to. However my webhost had made a fresh backup just before it so i just restored it that way. Now im back on 1.5.2 and I don't know if I dare to use the auto updater again... Witch is a shame because it was pretty convenient when it worked.
