Paulito
Good morning, When you go to back office > Modules > Modules > Top Horizontal Menu > click the dropdown box ( how many references to HOME do you see ) In 1.5.1.3 there are 2 ( 1 for CMS another for Categories ) If you have not already this will take you to the index page If that does not work then add a new link called Home with the correct index URL Paul
PascalVG
It should work as yo said. Best is to delete and re-add the Home item to your top horizontal menu, to sort of 'reset' it's value (at the moment it has some strange value of "http://www.owlrc.com/index.php?id_category=2&controller=category&id_lang=1" ): Go to modules Find Top Horizontal Menu and click configure there are two lists. Left with things to add to the top menu, on the right the currently added items. Select the Home item on the right and press the << Remove Button below the list Then scroll the left list until you see the Categories header, with the whole categories tree below it. Here select the HOME level (NOT the Root level!) and press ADD >> button. Because you probably want the HOME on the left, remove the other items one by one of your right list and re-add them, in the order you need. (as you cannot reorder the list on the right by dragging or so...). In your case only the subcategory, so not too much work. Save and see in the front office if it helped. It did for me... Pascal UPDATE: Ha Paul, you're first :-) Edited April 6, 2013 by PascalVG (see edit history)
owlrc
Thanks guys, been trying but i think its dead . . . I cant do anything. I tried uninstalling and the reconfiguring but i am unable to remove or add any items to the left list. clicking the add or remove links after selecting the items does nothing. I tried in safari and FF but both had the same result . .nothing. I think maybe something is wrong the the header, i have been trying to reduce some of the items in the header and i did try a different theme which did not work at all so i am not sure what i should do next? any suggestions? if you look at the menu now it has 3 items as set when i removed and re installed, i cant change them. Thanks, Tony http://www.owlrc.com
PascalVG
Hmm, maybe faulty files? Did you upload them yourself using FTP? If so, maybe re-upload them again, overwriting the blocktopmenu folder. (Maybe went wrong in previous upload) Then reset and try one more time? Just a try...
owlrc
And try i did . . but no . . . I re uploaded the folder then uninstalled and installed . .same issue. then i Uninstalled, deleted the remote folder via ftp, refreshed the modules list and confirmed it was gone, uploaded a fresh copy of the folder via ftp, refreshed the modules, installed, reset, same issue. I am close to binning the whole thing and starting again from the presta install? I only have one product loaded, i have sorted out a few things but they have all been on the learning curve so should be fairly quick to get back to where i am. any other suggestions? thanks, Tony. http://www.owlrc.com
PascalVG
Only some less obvious things like in menu Advanced Parameters-> Performance: Smarty : - Force compilation -> ON, - Cache -> OFF Caching: Use Cache -> OFF Clean browser cache + Cookies. If that doesn't help, No idea...
owlrc
no, nothing changed . . the smarty prefs were the opposite so i swapped them round but the caching was off. (should i always have the smarty setting as you listed?) so now . .i am re uploading all the files, i have some time now where i wont be working so i thought, if there is a problem in one of the other files uploading all of them will find it. if that fails or kills it i will start from scratch. unless anyone can suggest a quicker easier way of resetting the broken bit. Also . .when i go to the top menu configure page the menu drops below the actual settings, i thought this was a bit odd but maybe thats a sign something is not right? Thanks for all your help so far, Tony. http://www.owlrc.com
PascalVG
Hi Tony, No Smarty settings should NOT be set to force compilation if your site is u and running. Will then comple for every client who asks a page. VERY slow then. Cache should be ON for running sites. Suggested values only when you changed files/values in Back office/ On server, shortly, or during debugging. Good luck, no idea at the moment... Let us now when you find out more. owlrc
Many thanks for the confirmation . .as for finding out, it may be a case of wiping the slate clean as i am not sure i have the skills to be debugging as it were. if the current upload does nothing then i will rip all the files out and upload everything including the install folder and start from there, not sure if the database would need to be removed or if this would still be ok? or should i just erase the hosting account and start from zero? I have time to set it off and run this weekend so i can have a play and see what happens, i will keep in touch. Tony.
