Hi,

I understand that prestashop has the translation module but I realize it is not working as up to my expectations. For example, the menu bar are not being translated into Japanese when i select the option.

I would also like to do another set of artwork for the Japanese website.

Is it possible that I can do 2 sets of "websites", 1 English and another Japanese. With same layout, same inventory, different artwork and text?

I also have another set of domain name for the Japanese website that ends with .jp

My main concern is the inventory and products... Would like that both English and Japanese websites are able to share the same inventory!

Thank you!

you can do it but with multistore feature (which is available from 1.5) more informations about multistore feature you can read here: http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS15/Managing+multiple+shops

Thank you Vekia!

I'm glad Ive upgraded to 1.5.3

However, im a little confused with Shop Group and New Shop.

If I like to use the same theme, same shared inventory etc, different artwork and language description for the products, which one should i choose?

thank you

Hello,

If you want to share products and stock, both shops have to be in the same group, otherwise you won't be able to share stocks.

Best Regards

Zen

Thank you Zen,

but will I be able to change artwork for the front page and the description of the products? (just to change to another language)

in this case you should duplicate theme, change name of this template and in second shop use second theme with changes (like artwork etc.)

Hi Vekia,

And it should be under New Shop i supposed?

Will i be able to share the same inventory real time?

Thank you again!

Much appreciated!

i don't know what you asking now ;) If you want to change theme just switch the shop, go to preferences and change it ;)

Sorry for the confusion.

But I would like to set up 2 shops via Multi-shop feature on version 1.5.3

1 is a English version while another is a Japanese version.

However my requirements are:

  1. Both shops must share the same inventory
  2. Both shops share the same customers base
  3. Shop 2 will have Japanese language description for their products
  4. Shop 2 will have different artwork on frontpage with Japanese language

Under Multi-shop feature, I will have to choose either to "Add a new Shop' or "Add a new Shop Group" and thus I am confused with the differences here.

1 => shop should be in same GROUP

2 => You have to select this at the first time you use activate this group

3 => good for japanese people

4 => for that you can use the same template , no need to duplicate it, because most of modules for front page and other pages can be configured for each shop activated with different images.

SO I hope you get it this time.. Click on Add a New SHOP (under the same default group)

Creating a new group is for Different websites that won't share products and stock and customers or carts.

Zen

yes you will be able to do that with the same theme, but if you want different styles, with japanese language it might be useful, then duplicate your theme and rename the folder, so you can really change everything directly on tpl files.

Zen
