Removing footer Specials, New products, Top sellers...etc

I have been following other threads of removing the abovementioned links...

 

I have commented out or deleted the code in \modules\blockcms\blockcms.tpl.

 

For example, the specials link below, has been commented out

 

<!--<li class="first_item"><a href="{$link->getPageLink('prices-drop')}" title="{l s='Specials' mod='blockcms'}">{l s='Specials' mod='blockcms'}</a></li>-->

 

After I saved and reload my site, the 'specials' link is still there.

 

I have disable cache and set to forced compilation.

 

I have also deleted the files in

cache\smarty\cache

cache\smarty\compile

except the index files in those folders.

 

After all these I'm still unable to get rid of the links.

you may have changed the wrong file. check your theme folder for the blockcms.tpl file
