No phone number in account setup?

Check your setting in Preferences > Customers, if you have for "Registration process type" selected option

"Only account creation" next option "Phone number" should be set to no.

 

Thanks Razaro, that fixed it.

 

But that's *really* bad design. This is not obvious from the system, and easy to miss.

 

Im going to file that as a bug. UPDATE: that's been done I see :-)
