mintminty59
If you install the english language pack , and delete all the other languages to only leave UK in version 1.5 it borks the admin panel totally. I have tried this on a fresh install twice and same results everytime. I dont want USA on my website as I am based in the UK which is a shame. This is a serious bug for me, and I am going back to open cart.

leofrog8
Hi - I don't understand the word "borks" but I am in the UK and I have no other options on my site than UK check it out www.customrubberstamp.co.uk - it is the early stages as I only got it up and running last Saturday - I am in no way an expert and somethings I find hard but for the facilities I need I don't think there's another option without spending thousands. If you can be more specific with your problem it always helps and is more likely to get a response from other members. You will also find that if you just type the problem into Google - things will pop up - it is seldom that there is a problem that someone has not had before and cannot be solved. Good Luck

Good Luck Borked as in broken. I have lost 2 stores doing this, yea maybe I should have just disabled it but its a big design flaw. I dont fancy starting again for 4th time. I also find the whole hooks and design system very complicated and combersom. I have also had the admin wont log in option on the 3rd install attempt where typing details just takes you straight back to log in screen again with no error. I been plagued with problems but with open cart boom worked straight away.
leofrog8
I guess it is what you are used to and familiar with. I tried WordPress and totally could not work with it!! - I've been on Prestashop for about 6 weeks now - with problem after problem - (only 3 installs?? I've lost count of the number I have done) but in the end most seemed down to forces outside of Prestashop. I changed server a week ago and since then I have not had anything break!! (Touching everything wooden in sight) Turns out my previous server was Windows based rather than Linux and PS wasn't keen finally surmised, but whatever, it works fine now and much faster too! I've had the admin issue but this is well documented on both this forum and check out Forge Prestashop, I'm sorry but, being an old fart, I can't right now remember how I resolved it - but the answer is out there, believe me I've found it!! I have found that "permissions" have a dramatic effect sometimes and also what I have done is as soon as I've got Admin working is to go straight in and create a second "Employee" - then you have a back-up if your first log-in doesn't suit (or if you forget wghat it was). Maybe I'm just overloaded with patience but I'm pretty happy with where it's all going right now. Are you uploading yourself or using a 3rd-party loader on your server? - that can also throw a few curved balls I've found. Best to do it manually I'd say. I have my own server with cpannel and I am using the scripts with that. I have decided to try one last time. I am unable to disable US language as its moaning I as its default language, but I dont see any option to make UK the default.
vekia
you should upload own prestashop installator (download it from download section here) In my opinion it's better than pre-installers which are attached to cpanel etc. ...and remember to disable - not delete - us language
mintminty59
It wont let me DISABLE , it says its the default language nothing I do will allow me to disable it Found another bug then, if you click on red X it wont do it, but if you put a tick in box and select disable using the button it works. you should upload own prestashop installator (download it from download section here) In my opinion it's better than pre-installers which are attached to cpanel etc. ...and remember to disable - not delete - us language Edited March 23, 2013 by mintminty59 (see edit history)
leofrog8
Again my memory fails me but do you not select United Kingdom on the install - also, install by uploading zip file then extract into root (or wherever you run it from). If you can get it uploaded then go to Admin>Localization tab you have there all the options to change (and disable) all the countries/languages/currencies - everything!! I just checked again and there is a "localization" option after you have checked the "localization" tab - easy to miss and there's a lot of stuff in there to do with your problem Edited March 23, 2013 by leofrog8 (see edit history)
cocothecat
You know you can just set translations for the admin side to change TAX to VAT etc? I'm from the UK and I've never had anyone had an issue with the US vs UK english language if there has been anyproblems I've manually translated them via the admin. As for the build structure anything new is always a nightmare to start. Its a nifty little build once you get to grips with it though! This so I know whether to participate in this post I tried again and had to settle on USA because despite it being disable now, the contact blocks slide show etc dont show images unless USA is select on the flag next to them. So it seems to be ignoring fact I have disabled USA so I have to live with it. Now however I am getting 404 errors on Categories , and the CMS link delivery etc etc this is a mess! I'd be more apt to say what a mess you created. I assume you are running a 1.5.3.1, now if you had a 1.5.1-.2 I'd be a bit more sympathetic to your cause. But 1.5.3.1 is pretty stable and I've generated several sites locally for my module testing to worked really well. You have two posts, one 'nightmare' and 'totally useless'. Because you are new i'd suggest taking one question (which you may consider a bug) and post a relevant topic on that subject (first search using google). Then go work on something else like building products/categories until you get it sorted. Then each topic 'can' be reviewed and commented on by the community. The problems arise when you disable the USA language. When I enable it again everything works so I guess I have to stick with that and see how it goes. cocothecat
Why did you disable it in the first place? What was the major bug about having a US flag instead of a UK one, most of the modues you can buy and use only have the US lang with them anyway so you will spend hours writing new english translation files. Just manaully edit what you need to change
