Need help on catagories and other problems

Hi guys, im new to prestashop and just downloaded it today for my new ecommerce website.

 

I have the default theme and a couple really important questions:

 

1) On the top of the website on the horizontal menu, It has a home button but next to that I cannot add any categories. I went into the back office and added a catogary but it only comes in the categories which is on the left vertical. So how do I add catogaries in the horizontal top menu?

 

2) How do i add my own pictures/animations to the slideshow which is on the homepage?

 

3) How do I change the colour of the theme?

2) you should edit homeslider module, just click on "configure" button and you will get easy in use configuration page

3) you should edit css styles of your theme (global.css file located in your theme directory)

To add your categories to the top menu simply go to Modules > Modules then Front Office Features. Find Top Horizontal Menu and select 'Configure'. You can add your categories to the menu there.
