tomerg3
There is no built in way to do this. There are several modules out there that can help, this is one of them http://www.prestashop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/75526-module-zencart-to-prestashop-migration
rschonhoff
Thank you for your reply. I found out that the database is not zencart and the developer is unknown. Is there a way to export the prestashop categories and products to a csv so I cans ee if I can get the field names in alignment from the other database? Is there an import csv as well Ummm, that's what "CSV Import" would do… Or are you asking a different question? Long and short: if you have an Excel file with all the information from the original system, you CAN get that imported into Presta. It takes some work, and the documentation is wrong, but you CAN do it.
rschonhoff
Thank you again for your help. Is there to way to know what the field names are in prestashop in order to match the csv export from another cart? Are you able to supply these services? Sorry for the month-late reply, my notifications were going to junk mail! Try this: Advanced Parameters->CSV Import Select a bogus file, any text file will do Change the Entity pop-up to "Products" Click Next step In the page that appears, there is a pop-up at the top of the screen, pop that up. That's the list! There is a text file you can download from the first screen ("Click here to see our samples") , but the column list in that file is out of date. You can use it as a starting point, but be sure to check it against the contents of the pop-up!
