Add to Cart button does nothing and Customer Login disappeared!

I'm running 1.5.3 with Multistore enabled and have noticed that the product add to cart button doesn't work, there's no cart display in the top right hand corner (and there's no customer login available).

 

I have done a forum search and found a few helpful posts but the suggestions have not helped. It was working perfectly, but another developer was working on the other store front and I wonder whether that's why this has broken?...

 

What I've done:

• cleared cache and cookies and used different browsers
  
• uninstall and install cart block, and checked position (it doesn't appear in LiveEdit)
  
• checked catalogue mode was inactive
  
• checked url/ssl settings (both set to www.ourdomain.com etc)
  

I've seen reference to this as a bug, but thought it would have been fixed in 1.5.3.

 

Any other suggestions before install again and import hundreds of products and settings again?!

I'm also having this problem.

Noticed my Add to Cart button wasn't working in 1.5.3 and i couldn't see what was broken, so i upgraded to 1.5.4 and that didn't fix it either.

 

As a test i installed a clean shop of 1.5.4 and it worked fine! I configured a few settings, added my theme and a product. It all worked.

Added another product, still worked fine.

Realised i needed to add a few more features and edit my Employees, and then i noticed the Add to Cart button was broken and the Paypal checkout button just says "Error occurred:"

 

I've tried lots of things but really stuck and can't figure it out!

try to check console error log while you trying to add something to cart.

just press in chrome: ctrl + shift + J, then "add to cart" something, if any error occur in the console log - paste it here
