caedan
I may get shot at here - I downloaded presta through softaculous one click and the admin page is fine when accessed through the cpanel link. What I don't have is access to the store front for me to do anything with, and issues regarding magic quotes etc which I have seem brought up before on the forum - but the cures don't work. I still have nothing. Have I committed some basic error? Thanks in advance
benjamin utterback
Hi, welcome to the PrestaShop forum! Have you tried to install PrestaShop through a different method, maybe through FTP?
caedan
I am a novice, so bear with me! Are you suggesting I uninstall, and reinstall outside of the cpanel - ie via here and set up that way?
caedan
Ok it went mental - now have alot of files and nothing to show for it. Won't access anything. Can get cpanel still, can get presta admin through a cpanel link - everything else is gone.
benjamin utterback
Hi caedan, no worries we can definitely help you install. The first thing I think you should do is clear your database and delete all instances of your PrestaShop store. That way we know that you are working with a clean slate. If you have questions about clearing your database and such, I suggest to contact your hosting provider. Who is your hosting provider? Installing PrestaShop should be pretty straight forward. To install PrestaShop manually you can follow these instructions and let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!
caedan
Thanks for the reply. I think the host is enix (uk web hosting) So far I have removed everything, and then reinstalled manually through FTP (zilla) and all has so far gone to plan. I am now just left with the original problem - functioning back end, front end missing.
benjamin utterback
Hi caedan, Is the front end totally blank?
caedan
No, not as such -hitting the 'view shop' icon takes it to the homepage. Nothing is disturbed on the homepage at all. I have configured and linked it to the shop page of the website, but it keeps diverting to the homepage. There are issues with gitignore, memcache, pecl etc download that didn't make a difference last time. I cannot adjust the globals as I cannot find the file. Not sure if this is server side issue. last time I spoke to the hosts, they said it was ready to go without and additional modifications on their end. benjamin utterback
Hi caedan, you need to install PrestaShop on a clean domain and database.. in your backoffice in Preferences>SEO and URLS can you tell me what is under "Set Shop URL"
caedan
www.radioandmeter.com/ramshopcom.html This was intended to have the shop on that page of the domain. Is that what is overcomplicating things? I can always get another domain if need be. The host provider said it would run a shop ok, so thought it could be added on in that way. benjamin utterback
Yes, you can use it on www.radioandmeter.com/(blanksubdomain) That subdoman you are installing on already has content on it. You don't need to get a new domain entirely, but you do need to install it on a fresh subdomain.

benjamin utterback
Who is your hosting provider? I find it very concerning that they would tell you that you could run an Ecommerce store on that subdomain.
caedan
Right, so I am thinking I have messed up, and should set up a seperate sub domain such as shop.radioandmeter.com and set up presta to land there. Once I have done that, the shop button on the main site can be set to direct to that subdomain. Sound about right? Thanks again for your help. Tried and failed.Set up blank subdomain under shop.radioandmeter.com and changed the presta to point there and says it doesn't exist. No front end still Edited March 15, 2013 by caedan (see edit history)
caedan
Downloaded all requested extensions, doesn't so much as recognise them. Still have warning for memcache, pecl, acp etc although they have been installed on server as required. Meanwhile, back in the phantom shop side, everything is is the same. No front office, cannot be found, though it occasionally finds shop.radioandmeter.com although it is a holding page with no presta in sight. Urls in both back office settings and mysql are correct though the config info still states the home page. This cannot be changed for some reason. Hosts have stated that there is nothing server side that is stopping it from working as all parameters are set up for the store. Back the the uninstall/reinstall and hope for the best again?
