Strange Attribute Behavior

OK this is the second item that has some strange behavior when selecting product attributes in the front office:

 

One this product,

If you were to select the heirloom finish (the middle color), the applique attribute also changes.

 

On this product,

http://www.whispardesign.com/window-treatment-cornice/30-cornice-sconce-viscount.html

If you were to select the 12" fabric opening, the applique again changes and this time to one that

is not even an available combination in the back office.

 

Then this one

http://www.whispardesign.com/window-treatment-cornice/99-cornice-palisade-metals.html

Changing the fabric opening leaves all other attributes at default - which is how the attribute feature should function.

 

Any thoughts as to why changing one attribute would affect another? Is this a bug?

I rebuilt the above product and combinations and now the problem mentioned above for this item is fixed.

However, if you choose one of the applique options, you must choose it twice. The first click goes back to original attribute and the second click actually selects it properly. Any idea where I need to start looking for why the attributes are so buggy?

I've seen several complaining of this problem but nobody has a solution

No - no solutions. Hopefully someone with Prestashop or someone more knowledgeable than I will see this and offer some things to check. I am not throwing any errors so I really don't know where to look.... server side? Prestashop?
