fbd100
Hi all, I am new to Prestashop and the forums, I will appreciate any help. The story is simple, i have a website which is using oscommerce. www.mysite.com I have purchased a new hosting package with another provider and installed Presta shop on it (version 1.5.3.1) Now I want to use the cart2cart service to migrate products/clients... from the first shop (oscommerce) to the second Presta . Both has to be online and DNS can only direct to one site at a time. How can make my Presta shop aceessible online so the cart2cart service can connect to it without pointing the DNS to it. I am a newbie , so please don't suggest to move the files to subdomain etc.. as that will complicate my life even further. Thanks in advance for your help
nuclearsam
you can access your site by directly entering the ip address. however if you are on shared ip (shared hosting) then this might not work. you can ask your host to provide temporary domain for your site. it will look something like ns2.yourhostingcompany.com/~yourusername Regards Sam
fbd100
Hi Sam and thanks for reply. I tried the subdomain trick and the ip_address/~username. both didn't work.
nuclearsam
you cannot just build the temporary domain yourself using your username. you should ask your hosting company to provide it to you. I just gave an example, the temporary name depends on hosting company.
fbd100
hmm, I think the hosting company will not go into the trouble of creating a subdomain for such a small client , they are big company .
