Is it mandatory to upgrade to 1.4.10 from 1.4.9?

Hello,

 

I have an 1.4.9 install, and I've seen the new 1.4.10 release. Is it mandatory to upgrade it? Are there any security issues or can I continue with the 1.4.9 install?

 

My main problem is that I have an addon (Real Search) bought a couple of months ago, but now is missing from the addons store. I have a problem with the addon, and the developer is missing. So I'm afraid that maybe it won't work in this new release...and I really need it working.

the decision is yours, you can do it but you do not have

 

you should try to make demo store based on 1.4.10 on your localhost (tutorial prestashop on localhost - how to) and then try to install your Real Search module and check it for issues or sth

 

this is the better way

Couple of months old module will most probably work with your store. As Mod said better to try is on local host not on live site.

@alastairbrian: I have an issue with the module, and ten days after contacting developer have no answer at all. The module is even gone from the addon store...Ummmm, if there's no security reasons to upgrade....don't think I'll do it.

I read about the improvements in 1.4.10. What I remember is a multitude of patches, both minor and important, but what stood out for me was the improvement in Ipad navigation and checkout. I didn't think I had any customers using Ipads to actually purchase until I had to walk one through it over the phone before the fix. The upgrades went well with me, three stores from 1.4.9 to 1.4.10, but I'm not using the module you mentioned, either.
