Domain Url Duplicated In Wmt

Hello,

 

I found in Google Webmaster Tools plenty of duplicated Meta Tag like this:

 

http://www.mydomain.com/www.mydomain.com/product.html

 

I do not know why is adding for all the product pages twice my URL.

 

Obviously if you try to go to http://www.mydomain.com/www.mydomain.com/product.html, the shop is doing a 301 redirect to the correct URL that is http://www.mydomain.com/product.html

 

Somebody know why this had happened?, I have checked the sitemap.xml and it seems is correct.

I believe this kind of behaviour occurs when you don't explicitly add http:// in front of your domain names. It then assumes an internal reference and adds the domain name to it... No idea where exactly to fix it, but see if you can do anything with this info.

Please report back what you find out...

What do you mean "when you don´t explicity add http:// in front of your domain names"?.

Does it means that I have to add http:// in front of my preferred domain in WMT?

 

Can it be a Prestashop problem?

Yes, in Prestashop you should add http:// in front of external links explicitly, I believe.

Everywhere where you have to type a URL that starts with your www.domain.name, add http://www.domain.name

Also maybe check if your shop has the full path, including http:// in it...

 

Not behind my computer now, so cannot check where you set the store name, but I believe in preferences-> store and scroll down a little. Correct me if I'm wrong...

It´s been a few weeks but I am still having issues with this.

 

Is only happening in some product pages, and I am agree with you that it is related to a relative href.

 

Please find attached one of the duplicate meta tags that WMT is reporting from my site:

As you can see, the correct URL is the first one that is pointing to http://www.marlosonl...-gioseppo.html.

The second one is the malformed that points to http://www.marlosonl...s-gioseppo.html

 

If you try to go to the incorrect one, Prestashop is doing a correctly 301 redirect to the first one, which allows WMT to remove this duplication every some days.

 

The problem comes because every Google indexing, appears some new malformed URLs, this is keeping the number of duplicities over 100.

 

I have check the Site using XENU tool trying to find malformed URLs but everything seems correct.

 

I checked for the code of the page but I cannot see any href without the http://

 

Any ideas?

I try to locate where on your site itself it shows the double domain named link, but I cannot find any. Can you give me a link to an example, where exactly you get the double domain name in a link on your site?

The above page, when following down the category tree seems to give a single domain named URL...

 

So, where exactly on your site self do you have a link where the domain name is doubled?

Meta Tag duplicities are growing again in WMT, I went down to 72 and today I have 296 and going up.

 

Please find below one of those which corresponds to a product page:

 

For the next correct URL:

WMT is indexing too this malformed URL

So, is seing duplicated Meta Tags as for Google both URLs (the correct one and the malformed) have same title and description.

If you try to go to the malformed, the shop is doing a 301 redirection to the correct one with, as I said, is fine. The problem comes because each time Google is indexing is finding more new malformed URLs so this is never ending, this is, is removing the previous indexed pages as the 301 redirection is working but, is adding the new found.

I have used a tool "Text Crawler" to check inside all the files of my Prestashop installation if, in the code, there is any href that not contains http:// or https:// in fron of the domain, because, as you said, is the first point to check. Everything is OK, this is, there are not lines without http:// or https://.

I used too a tool to check for any malformed URL and everything fine too.

I do not know what to do.
