bkemp
I recently purchased the UPS Shipping Pack. http://addons.presta...pping-pack.html When I configure the module I get this error: UPS Shipping pack need the SDO and SimpleXML php extension to run › http://pecl.php.net/package/SCA_SDO SDO_DAS_XML::create() function : not found! simplexml_load_file() function : found! I tried adding this line of code to php.ini file but it didn't seem to help. extension=sdo.so I tried using SSH to add the exension. How do I install the SDO so it can run properly? I’ve looked at these websites http://www.php.net/m...l.downloads.php http://pecl.php.net/package/SCA_SDO http://pic.dhe.ibm.c...nstall_sdo.html But do not have the technical skills to follow them properly. I appreciate the help since the vendor has not responded. -BK
pel024
Hi, Unfortunately I can't help you with your problem but perhaps you could help me with mine! I'm interested in this module but the description on addons is a bit vague and so far the developer has not replied to my queries. Could you just tell me whether the module calculates shipping costs? I want to set my own costs and price ranges in the usual way but just need to be able to print the labels and generate the tracking numbers. Does the module allow this? Did you ever get a reply from the developer? Thanks Edited March 16, 2013 by pel024 (see edit history)
bkemp
Hi pel024 I would not recommend this module since the developer has NOT contacted me yet. (I sent 2 requests through their system.) and waited over a week each time for them to respond. I'm considering trying http://www.presto-changeo.com/en/shipping-modules/50-ups.html or http://www.modulebazaar.com/ups-shipping-label-platinum-module.html instead. Let me know how it goes for you. pel024
Thanks for the info. I've considered both the modules you mention but the problem is both calculate the shipping costs and I want to set these and the price ranges myself. The presto-changeo one looks very good - supports negotiated UPS rates, multiple packages, label printing, tracking numbers etc and the support from the developer (Tomerg3) is very good. The module bazaar one doesn't calculate the shipping fees itself but relies on the PrestaShop UPS module which doesn't support negotiated rates. I was hoping that the UPS Shipping Pack just allows you to print the labels and generate the tracking numbers but (like you) I can't get a response from the developer. Did you ask your host about the php extensions? They may be able to help. If you don't get any response after purchasing the module you should contact addons and complain. The module isn't cheap! bkemp
Thanks for the feedback on the two modules I was considering. It is good to know that presto Changeo supports multiple packages which is important for us. For me we're trying to get shipping as close to the rates UPS and USPS provide as possible since we are shipping oversized pacakages that can get pretty pricey so I haven't explored the custom calucations you are trying to implement, I looked at http://addons.prestashop.com/en/administration-tools-prestashop-modules/3252-print-labels.html as a standalone option for labels..... but the screen shots weren't enough for me to tell if it would meet our needs for simplifying shipping. bkemp
My host did try to help me add the extension but we weren't successful. Matt did process refund and is looking into the issue now.
Fez-o-Joe
Just bought the Presto UPS module and it's lacking - it will generate a label, but has no print capability. The developer thinks that a user doesn't need to print from the back end and will endlessly refer you to UPS to suggest how to print the label it just generated. (UPS says to just use their website...) To their credit, yes - you can print a .GIF label on a 8x10 sheet of paper. In that respect, the module 'works' however; if you have a shop and do multiple UPS shipments on a daily basis, then you have a UPS thermal printer... Their code does work the UPS API correctly, so if you've been entering the shipping data directly into the UPS website - this will correctly get you the rates, insurance, boxes, etc. You just can't print the label to the thermal printer that UPS provides you... (seeing a trend?) And they say that we're the only ones that want to print. So, if you do buy it - please say something about the need to print. They did fix errors in their coding when we wrote them, and the broken URL's in the form emails, but the module is still in its "pre-teen" years - it has a few more issues to work out. If you find someone to fix their code, let me know. So far, we're unimpressed with Prestashop - and until we find a coder that can change the way that inventory/size/quantity is done, it'll be just a side project. Good luck. If I find an answer, I'll re-post.
Requis
Hi, we already buy it too, and have the same problem, our host recommend to install and older version of prestashop to test it, and still is not working, the people from UPS, it´s recommending a "consultant" but it aint cheap, plus to the cost of the module we´re really thinking about it, Have you found any solution to make it work?? we have the same error: UPS Shipping pack need the SDO and SimpleXML php extension to run› http://pecl.php.net/package/SCA_SDO SDO_DAS_XML::create() function : not found!simplexml_load_file() function : found! thanks!
