Howto Setup Multistore With An Upgraded Shop?

Hi there,

I wonder if someone managed to setup a multistore setup with an upgraded shop and might share his/her experience todo that in the least painfull way. All my bugreports and remarks to the PS team seem to be more or less unheard. Maybe I am thinking to complicated or I am missing something.

 

What I want todo is setting up a multistore with shared customers and products as I want to seperate our portfolio more specific to different countries.

 

As the sharing options are disabled in the default group and I could not get satisfying results by changing/enabling the values directly in the database I made better experience by setting up a new shop group.

Copying the product amounts to the ps_stock_available table is not that complicated but after all I realized that no customers not their orders are imported in the new shop group.

 

So my question(s). Did PS team in any way planned that the upgraders can use their old shop in a mutlistore environment? How can this be accomplished without running dozens of self written hacks in the database with unpredictable consiquences?

 

Maybe I am a blockhead and don't see the obvious as I am playing aroung to long with this part and had too many unpredictible results but after months of waiting for new bugfixed versions I do not see any progress concerning this although I made a lot of affords and spent hours on the bug tracker giving detailed descriptions of at least strange behaviours of multishop in upgraded environments. So the next version is coming soon. Seems to behave like the old. Do I have to wait another 3 months just to see ones again that it is not working in a way that it makes me confident using it?

I've just upgraded one of my stores to PS 1.5.3.1 (first to latest 1.4.10. and than to PS 1.5.3.1). Multishop you can use by the same way on this upgrades as a fresh install. I didn't noticed any irregulars, but as I said the upgrade with made through PS 1.4.10 before. A direct upgrade from 1.4.5.1 to PS 1.5.2./1.5.3.1. directly was having also great problems and strange behaviour. So please try the way I did. To fix entries directly into DB ist not a good way, because there are several table dependencies .
