mammoo
I have just upgraded our store from 1.4.8 to the latest version of 1.5. The site is running much slower than before and I am trying to get it running faster if possible. The biggest problem is that when I enable the caching in the performance tab it completely kills the site! It is running at about 4 - 8 seconds with caching turned off. When I enable caching this goes up to 20+ seconds and the site becomes unusable. I have tried memcache, APC and file caching and all have the same problem. Site is www.traditionalshaving.co.uk. Anyone see anything like this before?
Bill Dalton
Working great here in Canada, going from product to product in about 1 second for page load. Real fast web site.
mammoo
That's good to hear! Unfortunately both our external monitoring (pingdom) and google analytics show a huge increase in site speed since the upgrade. Caching is currently turned off because if I turn it on the site goes down. Does anyone know why enabling caching could slow the site down that much? Dh42
That should be enough to power the site. In your config/defines.inc.php file, turn it to developer mode. At the bottom of pages it will read out the times on everything look and see if anything seems abnormally high, or if there is a module that is slowing things down. mammoo
Thanks for the suggestion but when I set define('_PS_MODE_DEV_', true); it doesn't make any difference on the front end - no timings or debug displayed at all.
Dh42
You have to have your shop in force compile and the cache turned off as well, sorry about that.
