Product Compatibility Module

Hi all, is there a module that will flag compatibility issues on shop front or or in the cart, I will be selling electronic products, some of which will be incompatible

Hi gaz,

Please elaborate a little. Do you mean a module that checks if the user selects products that are 'incompatible'? What exactly do you mean with 'on shop front'?

Can you give a little more info, or better yet, an example what would trigger a flag?

Hi pascal, yeah that's exactly it, lets say for instance a customer bought a 10mm nut and then added a 12mm bolt it would flag up suggesting the products are incompatible when adding to the cart and also in the cart, sorry by shop front I meant on the product page when adding to the cart, thanks

Ouch, a lot of maintenance if you want this. You have to maintain those 'mutually exclusive' lists for every item. Presume you add a new item, then you have to add to all items if it is compatible or not with this new one. Both two-way of course. Deletion of an item should remove it's relationship with all items...

 

Never heard of such a module, but specific google search may pop up something that comes close.

Thanks pascal, there will be around 200 products on the site which will require this, the products will be very likely to stay put so I would agree initial high maintenance, it is essential my customers do not buy incompatible products, I will search deeper but may just be a case of uploading a data sheet and urging customers to check themselves, thanks again
