Change Default Theme Layout?

Hi

I just started using Prestashop this weekend and have been trying to work out how to change the layout to what I need but can't seem to get it there.

 

What I would like to do is have the image slider take the whole width of the page under the menu, then have the regular left, center, right below. I've tried just changing the settings of the Image Slider module but that obviously didn't work.

 

The way I think I need to do it is to create another area for the image slider that sits above the current left, center and right ones, but I have no idea how.

 

Can someone point me in the right direction?
