Question regarding taxes and export

Recommended Posts

I have a webshop in the Netherlands and we also sell items to Belgian and German customers.

Customers from outside the Netherlands (with a tax number) can buy tax-free. However, I need some code to allow people to enter their tax number + name. When entered, they should be able to buy without tax.

So:
If a Belgian company wants to buy an item he should be able to enter his tax number + legal name. When validated at the Dutch tax office (done manually after order), the customer should be able to buy tax free.

Hi Diemux,

I have the same problem here, also selling en exporting products to Belgium and Germany. I really need a good solution, did you find any yet?

I have one idea:
Before entering the website the visitor has to choose: consumer or business, like http://www.viking-direct.nl

Keep me informed would you? I also posted the quiestion in Dutch forum

Regards
Jeroen

Yeah, we currently do it like this:

I created two countries: Belgie Particulier and Belgie Zakelijk. Zakelijk gets tax free as it's in a tax free zone and particulier gets tax. The BTW (tax) number is entered in the "Overige informatie" box when entering a address.
