georgek
Hi All,I'm just getting into PrestaShop and finding it very impressive. I know VAT is an emotive subject but I just wondered whether any UK users had come across the following:According to VAT guidelines in the UK the VAT rate of the shipping should follow the rate of the goods/services being sold. So if you are selling books or childrens clothing for example the VAT rate is 0% on both the item and the shipping. That's fine if you are only selling one VAT rate of items. My issue is I sell a mixture. Some items are 15% liable and some are 0%. The shipping VAT in PrestaShop does not take account of this and just picks up the rate from the carrier whereas I think it should pick it up from the item. If the cart only includes 0% items it should be 0%, mixed cart will be 15%.Is anyone else affected by this?

Snol
dodgy issue this one but guaranteed if you charge vat out to your customer anyway and then pass it to the vat man anyway, the stripey trousered meany isnt going to complain.I did this some years ago and when I got an inspection it was revealed we had charged vat out on some "grey area" safety boots which amounted to about £5k vat in total, he said we neednt charge it on this particular grey area and said that alot of people in our industry charge like we did. Oh great I thought give us some money back....ho ho ho , noooo way, he kept it thank you very much, put his Dick Turpin mask back on and promptly gallopped away.moral is, you are doing it for him as long as you pay it him.
