Multi-Shop - Sharing Products Between All Shops?

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I've spent the best part of this afternoon trying to make the multi-shop feature work. I've pretty much exhausted all the threads on here but still cant find the answer to my question.

Basically I want to know if we are able to share products between stores by using the multi store feature?

I have two clients that work in the same line of business, ideally I want them both to contribute to each others catalogue but set their own prices.

I've read the instructions but cant work it out, I'd be really grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

Regards

Matt

Hi, this is possible, you can either use Advanced Stock Management http://doc.prestasho...tock+Management or maybe for beginners easier you create a new shop group and enable share available quantities for sale http://doc.prestasho...multiple+shops. Look at the sceen shot in the middle of the page. I did not test advanced stock management but with "share available quantities for sale" you are only able to change the amounts when you are edititing the whole shop group. There is also a bug that when you want to assign e.g. a product from shop a to shop b you have to upload a picture for shop b before this is available. I hope they will iron that out soon, I just recommend you to make tests on local installation and think double what system you use. When you really let's say want to have two different merchants selling on one shop instance you have to give them access to the whole shop group, they have to view every order, even if it is not placed on there shop and have to check which products where sold from there stock. This is dicy imo. So when a payment is made on shop a) with products from merchant b than merchant a) has to pay merchant b for his products - imo a lot of administrative overhead. I hope you get the point in what trouble you might run with such a setup.

Best regards, trip

Thanks for your reply, Interestingly I'm not making much progress... Wondering if someone can confirm if this is a bug?

Option 1) I enabled multi-shop > created a new group > created Shop A & Shop B = Still cant see products, double checked the permissions on the Categories and the group has access to everything.

Option 2) Setup Warehouse and add products > I've added products but then you click to see them it displays non...

Hi Matt, I just have the development version here atm for testing. So I don't know if the 1.5.3.1 throws no errors. All I can say the part sharing same products on different shop instances is a lot to wiggle around at the moment. For example what I said. Products are not showing up if you don't upload a new picture for the new shop instance. etc.pp. Thats why I recommend test it long and test it hard ;) ... if it is not working as expected post a bug on the tracker with detailed description. It makes no sense to built a production side which simply is not working. If you don't feel confident with the system or there are too many bugs. Don't use it atm. To revert a messed up database is more or less impossible. You can enable define('_PS_MODE_DEV_', true); in config/defines.inc.php to see if any errors where thrown while you play with the features. That might give a hint for bug reports.

Good luck, trip

As a whole my experience with multi-store is a positive one. I am however also having problems sharing the products across groups as described above.

The problem is when it comes to editing products you can not select a desired group. You can only choose All Shops or each shop individually. Multistore works fine when editing things like modules as it allows you to select All Shops, A group of shops or an individual shop. As I said this is not the case when dealing with products.

The only way I can figure out how to share a product across a group is to select "All Shops" add a new product and then edit it in each individual shop and delete from the ones where it is not wanted. This is obviously not how it should be. The strange thing is, editing categories works perfectly, you can add and edit for all shops, a group, or individual shops.

Can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong or is this a floor with prestashop?

From reading the forum a number of people seem to be in the same boat.

Please also respond if you are having the same issue

Same issue in here. I use multi shop for language purpose. 1 is in French the other one in English on 2 different domain names. When a user put a comment in english website it will show as well in the french one. That may be interesting in some case but we should be able to choose the sharing of thos comments between sites. Dear developer, any plan to include this on your roadmap?

Hello!

I am testing also the 1.5.6.2, i am trying to share stock between 2 shops and i see that we can't choose a group of shops if we want to create or edit a new product, we must choose "All shops" . The group of shops appears only when editing quantities.

I am using prestashop 1.5.6.2

Despite enabling advanced stock manegement and seeng all products in warehouse.

Warehouse is connected to all shops. Also enabled "Share available quantities to sell". I can not see product added to ShopB from ShopA. Do you know how to handle this?

You must choose all shops and not a single shop even if its in instance, i know .... its a pain!

Dunno why we can't choose "group of shops", and dunno if its possible for next version.

Any help or suggestions are welcome

Best
