Global $tpl_dir is not URL?

I'm feeling confused.

 

$dase_dir gives me a URL to the base directory

$css_dir gives me a URL to the theme's css directory

but

$tpl_dir gives me a fully specified path to the theme's directory, as in C:\dev\.../themes/mytheme/

 

This last is not particularly useful, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

 

Any ideas/comments?

I facing the same problem, I will want to do a thickbox link to a content that I created. But I want to do it with a global variable.

$theme_dir didn´t work for me,

 

you can try

 

{$js_dir}../

to go back to the theme folder from its js directory

 

src="{$js_dir}../mycontent"

Yes, I tried it. It does not seems to do anything.

 

This Works in different files,  {include file="$tpl_dir./breadcrumb.tpl"}
