Customizing the customer registration process?

Hi there,

I'm currently migrating my online store to prestashop and i need to change a few things about the way a customer registers.

1. I would like the default country in the registration form to be United Kingdom
2. I want subscription my newsletter to be compulsory (no tick box)

Anybody know how I can make these changes?

I'm using version 1.1
