Upgrading from 1.4.8.2 to 1.5.3

Hello dear fellow Prestashoppers

 

I am using PS 1.4.8.2 and I tried to upgrade to 1.5.3. It was a disaster! Nothing would work anymore, URL's were redirected endlessly, leading to errors.. So I restored my backup that was not working properly in the first place.

 

But now things have got worse. The shop won't force compile anymore, so I can only use the cached version.. things are hanging on by their finger nails (as am I). I cannot set up my store in different languages, because that feature bugs... etc.

 

I am looking for some help to upgrade my shop and get it working properly again or even reinstall the whole thing from scratch and get it working. For a girl, I am quite a techie, but this goes beyond my means. Minor issues I have been able to fix reading the forums, but I am going to admit I need some help now... XD

I have a tight budget, but I am willing to spend a couple of bucks on this.

 

Who would like to have a 'diagnostic look' and help me?

you said you've got a backup, from files and database ?

if yes that should be easy to restore.

In my opinion this might not be the best to do... but Everything is possible anyway..

 

I already used cart2cart services, it is not out of scratch but still a good tool for correct prices..

I use it for real migration like from magento to presta or presta to magento.... that seems strange to use it for presta 1.4 to 1.5...
