ukbill69
Hello, After installing prestashop on rshosting reseller account and using a custom template ive found that images are not showing in categories etc. Ive looked at many posts and solutions and none have worked. I right ballsed the install up as admin workings but front end doesn't I then thought right go back a few steps and found after installing latest version 1.5.3.1 I get red cross under "Can upload files" under PHP parameters. I do not know what this is or know how to get around it. I didnt have this before. I really have had a nightmare with this new prestashop and wishing I had installed 1.4 or even going back to 1.1. If you can help me then I thank you so much for reading and helping in advanced.
steve22
Just a shot in the dark. Are directories owned by apache (i.e. nobody). If they are for example owned by root, it is not going to work, as the script cannot create directories. I had similar problem with product images not showing, and doing chown fixed it. I don't know if you have access to the shell or not. Edited January 29, 2013 by steve22 (see edit history)

Could you please pm me more information about your domain name with us, so that I could take a look at server end logs, and comment on the missing images problem that you are facing? Just a shot in the dark. Are directories owned by apache (i.e. nobody). If they are for example owned by root, it is not going to work, as the script cannot create directories. I had similar problem with product images not showing, and doing chown fixed it. I don't know if you have access to the shell or not. Our servers have suphp configured on Linux servers, so it is not really possible that the files or directories under a particular account are owned by apache (i.e nobody), unless the ownership have been changed by root. Because of the suphp in place, any file or folder that is uploaded by a particular user on the server is owned strictly by that user on our server. I can further comment on what could be the problem here that ukbill69 is facing by going through the server end logs.

steve22
If this helps further, the bottom line is that the php script needs to create directories, under /img dir for product (and category?) images. So it needs sufficient permissions to do this.
ukbill69
Hello Steve, Ive tried using permission 777 and still get same problem and also getting internal server errors 500 now. God know what is going wrong.
steve22
Except for the 'add to shopping cart' which never worked, I got everything else working by chmod'ing everything to 777 and chown'ing everything to nobody, or whoever the apache is running as. Not the most secure, but a starting point. Hope this helps. Edited February 7, 2013 by steve22 (see edit history)
