Cannot consistently add items to cart in Chrome v. 1.5.2 / registered users cannot log in

Recommended Posts

I'm working on two sites and this problem comes up w/both.

The site I need to address ASAP is www.pinpartnersonline.com. When I add items to the cart it shows up in the cart block in the header but when I click on the icon I get the message "your cart is empty". On the back end it looks like the customer ditched the cart.

I did have it working and was able to place and complete several test orders. I added affiliate code from OmniStar to controllers/front/OrderConfirmationController.php and was again able to place and complete test orders - but after a few test orders with their code, the cart stopped working. I removed the code and cleared my cache, deleted my cookies, and uninstalled and reinstalled the cart block; it still does not work in Chrome. I also tried unhooking and the re-establishing the hooks for the cart. I just can't get the cart to populate in Chrome.

The cart works just fine in Mozilla Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer.

2nd issue:

Users can register and can work within the site as logged-in users immediately after registration, but once they've logged out they cannot log back in. The error I receive is "authentication failed". This issue occurs across all browsers, even when I clear the cache, cookies, etc.

I'm beyond frustrated with this release. I used 1.4.8 prior to switching to Bluehost for these accounts and since "upgrading" to 1.5.2, it's been one issue after another. I can't take another update, especially if it's going to break my themes again. Please send me the steps to resolve these issues in this version.

This is a shot in the dark, but would you be able to turn on Friendly URL's (via Admin -> Preferences -> SEO & URLS). It's hard to say that this is definitely an upgrade issue and not a Module/Theme issue. I'm noticing that others on the LeoTheme Support Forums are having a similar issue as you, which seems to be resolved with enabling Friendly Urls.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I posted the issue to PS's bug tracker and they closed the ticket and told me to upgrade. This was a fresh install (like only two weeks ago) direct from Bluehost; I've already added 200+ images that the backups don't load. An upgrade is out of the question, since I don't have time to upgrade, reload the graphics, and fix whatever the d*mn upgrade breaks in the theme before we launch on Friday.

Sorry to vent, I'm going cross-eyed from reading code. Thanks again!

If you go to Forge they'll just tell you over & over again to upgrade; whatever you do, don't use the 1-Click.

It's breaking 1.5.2 stores all over the place and they aren't even trying to close the tickets; they haven't even responded to most of them and some go back to December. I'm in the middle of deleting the entire shop from my server and just running a fresh install of 1.5.3 (using the backup, of course).

Naturally, they'll do this for you if you've become so frustrated from dealing w/the 1.5.2 bugs that you just can't take it any more; prices start at only EU150 --

--this level of awful is bordering on scam, imo. Who launches ecommerce software with broken carts? It's almost enough to send me back to ZenCart.
