Andresarg
Hello all and thank you for your time. My question it is simple, instead of ADD sale taxes to each Item (%7 for Dade County, FL), is it an option to have the Sale tax calculated at Check out? ( so if in the future we move to another County or Sate we don't need to change item by item the % sale tax) Thanks in Advance! Andres
benjamin utterback
Hello Andresarg, you do not have to individually add sales tax to each item. When configured correctly, the sales tax will be applied at checkout corresponding to the state the delivery address.

Andresarg
Dear Benjamin I read all and watch the Nemo's video you very kindly gave me.. and as the info goes.. Taxes need to be applied to EACH product... this is not the same you kindly told me... Please confirm this so I start crying or jumping of joy ( I already have me catalog almost full of items...) Andres I just wondered if you are aware that Florida is a destination State, meaning that you need to collect tax based on point of delivery. If someone in a county with 0% surtax buys from your store legally you can not charge them 7%, only the Florida sales tax of 6%. http://dor.myflorida.com/dor/taxes/discretionary.html
Andresarg
My business it is on MIami Dade wich has %1 extra... any how my business it is only for USA, I'm not selling outside USA... Either way I'm stuck with Tax rates...To each product?.. to the final check out?.. How to then?..I made all kind of testes ..and so far the only way I manage to make it work it is by hand to each product.. pleeeeaaseee!!! Thanks! tdr170
Does not matter where the business is in the state of Florida you must collect tax based on delivery address not the address of store location. So for sales in your county you would collect 7% but for sales in Alachua county you would only collect 6.25% as that county only has a .25% surtax. You do not collect tax for out of state or country sales. As far as I know you must select a tax rule for each product during entry for the taxes to be calculated correctly. Andresarg
..and that Tax rule which one should it be?...then the system will calculate it by itself?...
tdr170
You should set the tax rule for each product to your county then add tax rules for all additional counties with their zips. One problem you will have is in 1.5 the ability to add zips has changed so you can only enter in a range which does not work. In Florida as you know some zips are used in multiple counties and varying surtax rates and In 1.5 you can only enter in a range and if the ranges for any counties overlap Prestashop will charge surtax for both counties.. In 1.4 you could enter zips one by one creating a list, if a zip was already in use you would get a warning that the zip was already used and then you could just move on to the next. My online store is still a 1.4 just for this reason, I have made several bug reports starting last August and have yet to receive a reply. I am sorry to have to report this to you in such a way but to be legal and not have issues with IRS I suggest you use 1.4 untill they get the tax issue resolved. Now you can do like I have seen so many others report and just charge the 7% across the board but for me this is just not an option as I do not plan on having to pay the Gov. for taxes I failed to collect. Additionally our accountant will not allow us to do this as she says you just looking for trouble. If you need help with anything just ask. http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCFV-6233 http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCFV-6091 http://forge.prestashop.com/browse/PSCFV-3757
Andresarg
Dear Tdr179 Thank you so much about your time and explanations, Luckly we do habe 1.4 presta shop.. so I will recommend no to upgrade as far we dont face other issues. I will then revise all products and I will apply %7 tax to all of them ( I already modify this option on Florida taxes and it is working fine) Ones again Thank you very much!
