Sitemap question

Hi,

Can someone please tell me which file is responsible for creating the XML sitemap, and when is it happening?

I am mirroring my local site to the live site, so I need to make sure that sitemap.xml is valid and contains the live base url.

EDIT:
Ok, I found the sitemap module.
Please correct me if I am wrong:
sitemap.xml is ONLY created when I press the Generate Sitemap button in this module.
Right?

If so, than this is all nice and simple.
I will generate sitemap on demand, then run my own script to replace the local path with live path.
