j_dk
I will soon start a project, where we will build several shops (on different domains) and use the same backend. Really need your views on the matter, so hope you are willing help. The products are different, but the user should have the same shopping cart on all shops. So you can add products to the cart on both x.com and y.com (and complete the purchase from an optional site). It should be possible for the customer to sign in and view all previous orders, edit information etc., but on whatever site they want. So basically they are all the same shop, but with different product groups / departments on different domains - exactly as you can see on diapers.com and soap.com. As I understand, this is not something prestashop multistore can handle, because it works with different customers and orders for each shop. How will do this, and what version of PrestaShop would you use? (I assume that we have to make many core modifications, so we can't update prestashop in the future, so we need a stable version)

j_dk
I think you are talking about multistore feature that exists in prestashop!! As I understand, there are no connections between the different shops in Prestashop multistore. "Shop groups cannot share customers, carts or orders" - and that is exactly what I need. I know this is not a standard solution, but hope some wise guys have inputs to this idea.

As far as I know there is option in multistore just to use the same BO, or to share customers, orders and so on!!
Jan Jansen
You make the same mistake as I did, there is no "real multishop/multistore" in Prestashop. I have spend a year developing and I just found this out, j_dk is right: the cart and the login IS NOT SHARED It's such a shame, Prestashop did not make this matter clear, with things like this: http://www.inmotionh...hare-orders.png It's very very misleading, I've spend all my time on nothing. Magento can do this: http://www.magento-mall.com/ I feel so sad that I spend all my time in Prestashop, and now that I activate the multishop feature, there is no real multishop... Jan Jansen
I'm just warning everyone, I tried to make it very clear for everyone that reads this topic. Because I spend a lot of time myself with the idea that Prestashop had a complete multishop solution, but it's only a half/partly multishop solution. For multiple stores like soap.com/diapers.com prestashop simply doesn't work. And from my point of view, this isn't clear. Even the text in the "multistore group configuration" say that the cart can be shared. But it can't..

Carts & users are not shared between different stores (different domains) ? edit: According to documentation things have changes in 1.6: Copying from : http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS16/Creating+a+new+shop+group Available settings in same group : .... Share customers. Once enabled, you cannot disable this option. This is great when you want to allow your customers to use the same login credentials on all shops of this shop group. Share orders. Once enabled, you cannot disable this option. This option can only be enabled if both "Share customers" and "Share available quantities to sell" options are enabled. With this option, customers who are logged on any shop from this group will be able to see their order history for all the shops in the group. ....
