Allinnia
Hi everyone, first off let me say how wonderful it is to see such a nice and easy to implement program! Great work!My question concerns downloadble products. Is there any way to offer someone the ability to download a product as a sort of option? Example: I have a CD that I am selling (and 5 more on the way) which can be bought as a CD and mailed out OR as a digital download. Do I have to create separate products for each track or one zip file VS including it as an option for the purchasing of my CD?Thanks for any help,
Allinnia
Also having some early issues which I see others were having as well. Mine stemmed from copying and pasting text for my description from a Wordpress blog post. Now I have yet another dilemma which I KNOW will call for me to do some serious myPHP stuff. I seem to have a load of empty products that must have been made via the errors I kept getting. these are not showing up in my admin panel and I would post a link but I have the site inactive for only my IP.Where do I need to go to eradicate all entries of these records in the database? I've already checked the ps_product_download table and they are not showing up.... they are only showing up on the front end as new products - like 10 or 11 to be exact with no image. These HAVE to be the many mistakes I kept having and yet somehow they found their way into my records somewhere.Any thoughts? I will be checking up on this morning, but it's late here. EDIT: WOW - well I figured it out quickly... I went into PHP myadmin and search the entire database for the term I used in the title and deleted ll records to it. There were a few of them.Still looking forward to finding out about how to attach a downloadable option to my CD as mentioned in t he original post. Sorry for the quirky quick response, I just had to try the PHP myadmin route. This is something though you might want to look into.P.S. AWESOME PROGRAM - you guys have many of the other opensource options out there beat by a long shot.
Allinnia
Is there a limit for how much of a long description you can put into the description field? Every time I try to copy and paste or an alteration there of on this MP3 track download I am trying to make I get an error: 1 error 1. an error occurred while updating object product () What's the deal with this - it is getting annoying and in some cases it causes multiple file uploads without a home in my download folder - all of which are named something like JAHSD7WKEJFH8SDHQIWDH9QWDJSALQ8WPF ETC.At this rate I have over 127 downloads ready to go - I will have the store up and running...maybe...in like 3 months (just to upload and update file info). This is also causing issues with the database.EDIT: By the way I have been doing this successfully for two other products, but on the third the software wasn't having it. Allinnia
Thanks for that - I didn't catch that in my forum search. oops. LOLSo basically I just need to do the workaround (telling the customer to go to their product page) until this is operational. Not a big deal. However, do you have an answer for my first question? Is there some way (maybe through options/attributes/combination) to have it where a customer could elect not to buy the hard-copy product(CD in this case) and instead select a download option? I was hoping to not have to create individual products for each of these, but from the looks of the back end catalog->product setup it appears that I must. Again no biggie, just wondering. So far I am very amazed with the program. I have used Magento, opencart, shopsite etc. and none come close! There are a few issues with copying and pasting product descriptions as shown above with my error code, but it seems to be on and off because I have successfully done so with other products. Basically I am taking my own track descriptions from my blog and pasting them into the product description. Some work, some don't.
