configure notification mails sent when changing order status

Hi,

 

When I change order status from "Payment received" to "Shipped" an email notification is sent to the customer. I know that I can edit this message in root/mails/language/shipped.txt, but how to configure this notification mail so that it is not sent anymore.

find status 'shipped', edit it and turn off Send e-mail to customer 

 

I followed the instructions above and I have enabled customer notifications..

 

mail alerts module is also configured and hooked accordingly.. Customer service is able to send to customer messages and customer receives them, however when it comes to updating order status, customer does not receive.

 

Previously I was running v.1.4.4.1 with customers receiving notifications.. However, once I upgraded over to v.1.6.0.9 customer notifications stopped working.
