PayPal Advanced Module from ModuleBazarr?

I have the PayPal Advanced module taking payments, but it does not pass info to the shop at all. Does not register in the BO, no stock change or anything.

I have a modulebazaar customer service message in and I'm waiting for a response. Just wondering if I'm missing a simple setting or something stupid?

After receiving slow and terrible support from Module Bazaar I realized these people are actually egrove systems from India.

That's why they don't respond till 10pm to 12am to me here in the US.They are not in the states like the website claims. During the day no one answers the US phone number. The egrove reviews are fairly poor and I agree with the negative reviews. The Advanced Module did not work with 1.5.3.1, you could make payments pass through to PayPal, but nothing gets back to Prestashop and the paypal payment option does not do anything.

No response to my refund request even though they offer refunds. Horrible experience, module customers beware if your running 1.5...

Never got one phone call from them, the only response via email was that the module is perfect and there is no problem even though they can't make it work either after two tries in my BO. Every time I replied they sent the same message back saying the software was "perfect".

I wish there had been a warning about Module Bazzaar on here. Or am I the only one to be graced with the horrible tech non-support? At least it wasn't an expensive module. Mainly it just cost me another delay on getting my new site live. Going to try a PayPal Direct module next.

Update, still doesn't work. The thing keeps kicking an "Express Cart not set up" error. After 4 or 5 days egrove support told me how the module sends info to the site. That is not in the directions at all, they use a URL reply message. They have not refunded my money, so I'm waiting on a charge back.

In contrast, I installed Presto-Changeo's PayPal Pro module today, it worked perfect. Good directions, no install issues at all. Worked correctly the first time.

We have this module as well. I can get the sandbox to work. But in the live mode we have a serious issue.... can't validate because it is pulling Ar as an abbreviation of Arizona when it should be Az. I also have not heard back from them in regards to this issue.

I do know this... you have to have your site NOT in maintenance mode b/c Paypal has to communicate back to the site. If it can't no order will show up. But we haven't gotten that far as we need the module to send Az NOT Ar for the state abbreviation.

Anybody know how that an be done.

New install of 1.5.3.1

Have fun dealing with egrove, as far as I can tell the module was not updated to work with 1.5.3.1. Maybe it works on older versions? They don't write the code they sell from what I can see, they elance out the work. So, Module Bazaar has to contact the person who actually made the module, I was not able to communicate with the talent directly after three nights of trying.

The module uses a URL to pass info back to the web site, although I never got it to work while live or in sand box. It also would not connect to the PayPal check out page. It would process payments through the iframe just fine with nothing showing up in the BO.

I wish it actually worked, I like the PayPal advanced account for $5 per month. But, direct payments do run smoother without the iframe lag of advanced payments.

Hope you have better success than I did. I won't be messing with egrove anymore. Keep in mind they are in India and I received the emails from them between 10pm and 7am US central time. The time difference slowed down their responses, I stayed up to 2am and tried to work with them. Then I realized I was talking to a brick wall reading from a customer service reply list.

  • 1 month later...

Concerning your private message...

No I'm not interested in giving Egrove any more of my time. I wouldn't piss on any of them if they were on fire.

You can't fix stupid. But, I can expose it. B)

You shouldn't have to debug anything that you pay for. What I've learned about them from other forums is that everything takes 4 times more than usual to fix. They are slow to respond even on larger projects. Why would anyone continue to deal with them while there are professional and polite people available with better products is beyond me.

They were total jerks to me. Harsh, condescending jerks to put it lightly.

Yeah, just use the free module Prestashop provides. It works fine, I use 3.4.4 on my 1.5 site. There really is no advantage to the PayPal advanced module. It makes your site look unsecured, its slow. I thought hey, $5 a month is great. But, you don't get a virtual terminal which you will need one day for some reason.

You can always do direct payments, SSL is not a big deal. If you must use PayPal, the Presto Changeo Pro module works fine.

But, I would highly recommend having a real merchant account set up for credit cards. Have PayPal standard for those PayPal addicted customers and have Authorize Net or something like that for direct CC payments. I use PayPal too much now, after a while the fees add up quickly. PayPal tries their best to hold your money, a merchant account puts it into your bank on a regular basis. They don't try and hold funds in limbo like PayPal so the money is much more secure. Every time I move a couple thousand dollars PayPal puts a security hold on and calls me up. They are a pain. Authorize Net puts the money in your personal bank with no fuss and no stupid calls. The more volume you do the more money you save with a real merchant account service. PayPal is not cheap when you go to Pro, after using it, I don't see any advantage over a normal merchant gateway. PayPal advanced is just an iframe express check out. Some people refuse to use PayPal now also, so I always have direct payment options with no PayPal branding.
